Well the holiday came and went and if I might say so myself, it wasn’t as long as I needed. Even with the extra day off work Monday I still woke this morning needing just a little more time.
With that said, a lot of things surfaced in the world of sports during my mini-vacation, including the sad news of Steve McNair’s tragic death. Without getting into the details of his personal life (none of my business), I will say this: McNair was a true warrior.
Professional athletes as a group are a collection of babies who seem to find the smallest thing in order to sit out a game or two. McNair, on the other hand, was one of those few guys who would put all if his physical pain aside for the sake of the team and the game itself. His love for the game and desire to compete were a hell of a lot stronger than almost anybody I’ve seen in my lifetime. He will be missed, but his legacy will certainly live on. RIP #9.
• To lighten the mood, here is a nice piece about the return of Josh Hamilton from the DL.
• Here is another story that made me smile a bit. Looks like the Mavericks are close to getting a high-energy player that they so desperately need.
• A steady a**-whoopin. Link.
• The rich get richer. Story.
• Hopefully when I post tomorrow, I’ll be able to talk about how Terrell won the 7-on-7 league title tonight.
