Ahh yes. Revenge is sweet, especially when you get it from a young team, playing in enemy territory with something to prove. Forney may have found a way to “tweak” the system for a 1-point win a couple of weeks ago, but despite their efforts last night, the Jackrabbits were unable to deny the NEW Terrell Tigers, who left City Bank Stadium with the league championship in hand.

I must say I was impressed with the way the kids handled the pressure last night, performing in the clutch like a well-seasoned team, much to the surprise of the Forney side, who probably expected far less than the Tigers brought into the league after beating up on Terrell for three straight years.

But if you were there (or there to witness all five weeks like I managed to accomplish), you can see the transformation, the different attitude and the desire to get better while learning to win. These boys went 9-1 against some tough teams. Although it may just be a glorified version of touch football, Terrell still managed to win, which says a lot for a program with only five wins in the past three years.

I can see a transformation, these boys are really starting to believe in themselves, something they have lacked in years past. Throw in the amount of talent and pure athleticism that the Tigers possess, and this team might just be a pleasant surprise to many in the upcoming season.

One thing’s for certain – the new coaches have them headed in the right direction.
