About Me

As sports editor for The Terrell Tribune, my top priority is covering athletic events at Terrell Independent School District. You can hear me on KPYK 1570-AM during football season as the color commentator for Terrell Tiger football games.

I graduated from Lone Oak High School in 1999 and started my service in the United States Navy in September of the same year. As a military member, I was stationed in Oak Harbor, Washington, located on beautiful Whidbey Island.

I didn’t spend much time there, instead I served most of my time on forward deployments that allowed me to see a number of countries including Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Italy and Germany. While in Europe I took advantage of the opportunity to visit a number of places like England, France and Amsterdam.

I spent quite a bit of time aboard two naval aircraft carriers during Operation Enduring Freedom, the USS Abraham Lincoln and later on the USS Carl Vinson. While serving aboard these ships I was able to visit many more places like Hawaii, Alaska, Guam, Hong Kong, North Korea, Japan, China, Singapore & Australia.

My oldest child, Nathan, was born to my wife, Normanda, and I in the summer of 2002 while I was home in Washington.

After receiving an honorable discharge in 2003, I went to work for the Greenville Herald-Banner as a sports writer. Shortly after the birth of our second child, Carter, I left Greenville to become sports editor at The Winnsboro News.

Six months later I was hired to fill the same positions for The Terrell Tribune and Rockwall County News. Since then, I have won several awards for sports writing, photography and blogging from the Texas Press Association, the Texas Associated Press Managing Editors and the North & East Texas Press Association.

Along with sports, I’m a lover of music. I follow the Dallas Cowboys, Mavericks, Stars and Texas Rangers, and I’m a diehard fan of the Texas Longhorns.

My wife and I are high school sweethearts, married in 2000 and along with our children we live in a peaceful country setting in Cash, Texas.
